PubhD is a good way to "change our usual, more scientific discourse into a more accessible language that can answer community questions".

From the PhD in Health Sciences, Daniela Sousa brought to the June edition of PubhD Coimbra her thesis topic: "NarraTivAS of families on the autism spectrum". The PhD student is part of the CIBIT | Coimbra Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Translational Research.

Why did you decide to participate in PubhD Coimbra?

I decided to participate because I like this kind of science communication events. They are a good way to reach out to the general public and a way to change our usual, more scientific discourse into a more accessible language that can answer the questions of the community at large.

How was your experience in this edition of PubhD Coimbra?

I think it was a very good experience, the group was very nice. Even Beatriz (another speaker) started talking about how language ends up changing our perspective and it has a lot to do with my PhD project. And it was a very nice and comfortable environment, where we can see a sharing of perspectives and also an exchange of questions and answers which I think is very interesting.

Would you advise other colleagues to participate?

Yes, without a doubt. It is an added value not only for us who have the opportunity to share with other people our project. Also, other people have the opportunity to ask questions and see some doubts clarified for which we can give some kind of answer.
