Centre for Earth and Space Research of the University of Coimbra (CITEUC)

The Centre for Earth and Space Research of the University of Coimbra (CITEUC) is a Research Unit (RU) dedicated to fundamental and applied research in Earth and Space sciences, including their teaching sciences, history, applications, and dissemination. CITEUC is housed at the Geophysical and Astronomical Observatory (OGAUC), a structure of the Mathematics, Physics, and Earth Sciences Departments of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (FCTUC).

Mission

CITEUC has two research groups, with 40 integrated members with Ph.D.: i) Earth Dynamics (EDyn), focusing on Earth's inner structure and processes therein, crustal evolution, and Earth's history, including geomagnetism, seismology, tectonics, petrology and stratigraphy, and ii) Solar System Sciences (S3), focusing on solar physics, celestial mechanics, minor bodies of the solar system, and planetary geology. Both with people enrolled in Knowledge Dissemination, History of Science, Public Outreach, and Advanced Teaching.
