UC students win diplomas at the Paralympic Games

Telmo Pinão studies at the Faculty of Sports Science and Physical Education, and Diogo Cancela is a student at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology.

Telmo Pinão was the first Portuguese athlete to win a diploma at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The student athlete took 8th place in the 3000m Individual Pursuit C2 with a time of 4:03.192 minutes, more than four seconds off the national record he already held in the event.

Diogo Cancela also got his diploma after finishing in 8th place in swimming (Men's 200m Individual Medley - SM8).

Telmo Pinão will race again on the 31st of August and on the 2nd of September. Diogo Cancela will compete on the 3rd of September in the Men´s100m butterfly S8.

Pinão studies at the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education of the UC and Cancela is a student-athlete at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology.
