PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BELGIAN PRODUCTION COMPANY, IUVENALIS PICTURES, BASED AT THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF LEUVEN. This collaboration is PART OF ITS AMATEUR FILM PROJECT Frogs the Film, WHICH IS PRESENTED AS THE FIRST FEATURE-LENGTH FILM ENTIRELY SPOKEN IN ANCIENT GREEK.

The story of this tragicomedy is an original combination of Aristophanes' "Frogs" (405 B.C.), Euripides' "Alceste" (438 B.C.), Plato's "Symposium” (380 B.C.), and "Batrachomyomachia" (3rd century B.C.). These stories are united by original content written by the director himself, Thibaut Lejeune.

Iuvenalis Pictures’ primary goal is to produce educational material for teaching Ancient Greek in secondary schools. Additionally, it aims to demonstrate the timeless power and value of ancient narratives in contemporary society and to foster a broader appreciation for the language, literature, and culture of Ancient Greece.

To ensure accessibility to a wide audience interested in the study and dissemination of Ancient Greek, the film is presented with subtitles in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Dutch, German, Italian, French, Modern Greek, Portuguese, and more.

The Portuguese version is the responsibility of Rui Tavares de Faria, an integrated researcher at CECH and a member of the team behind the Secondary Project "Artes Docendi: Research and Training in Didactics of Classical Studies".

The world premiere of the film "Frogs" took place on October 6, 2023, on the production company's YouTube channel.

PROYECTO DE INNOVACIÓN Y BUENAS PRÁCTICAS DOCENTES AVANZADOS/COORDINADOS (Nº 22-219): “TENDIENDO PUENTES DESDE EL MUNDO CLÁSICO: EL DIÁLOGO COMO RECURSO EDUCATIVO” (2022-2024).

This is a project funded by the University of Granada, overseen by Professor Mónica Durán Mañas. Participating institutions include the University of Granada, University of Coimbra, University of Cádiz, University of Málaga, and the International Association Alma Clásica.
Additionally, Professors Cláudia Cravo and Susana Marques from the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies at the University of Coimbra are integral members of the project team.

The project aims to modernise educational practices by reinterpreting classical references to better suit contemporary society. It fosters the creation of an interdisciplinary pedagogical innovation team to collaboratively adapt teaching and learning methods to the 21st century. The goal is to promote equality, inclusion, entrepreneurship, and employability among students while facilitating internationalisation, digitalisation, and knowledge transfer. These efforts shall be supported by cascade training, aimed at developing innovative teaching materials and resources and improving students' learning strategies and assessment techniques. Faculty and students will work together to create digital educational resources and design educational workshops to empower students in the shaping their educational journey. The resulting products will be creative, innovative, interdisciplinary, and inclusive, forming part of a repository of open activities accessible via DIGIBUG for ongoing use in educational contexts. Furthermore, the project includes workshops with secondary school students as part of the Rome Foundation Day celebrations, promoting inclusivity and engaging society in academic activities. Additionally, among other initiatives, the project will publish a bilingual edition (Spanish-Portuguese) of mythological tales by Alicia Esteban Santos.

PROYECTO DE INNOVACIÓN EDUCATIVA (PIE17-174) “LA APLICACIÓN DEL READING METHOD A LA ENSEÑANZA DEL GRIEGO Y DEL LATÍN CLÁSICO” (2017-2019)

This project was funded by the University of Málaga and spearheaded by Professor Cristóbal Macías Villalobos, a specialist in Latin Didactics. It involved the collaboration of Professors Cláudia Cravo and Susana Marques, as part of a partnership between the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities of the University of Málaga and the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies of the University of Coimbra.

The collaboration among the three Professors resulted in the development of teaching materials for Latin, which was made available online. These materials were meticulously designed using a variety of ICT tools. The final product of this partnership was showcased by the two Professors at the University of Malaga. The aim was for the materials produced through this collaborative effort, particularly interactive exercises based on Latin texts, to serve as a valuable resource for Latin teachers in secondary and university settings in Portugal and Spain, particularly those teaching beginners.
