COST Action "InsectAI - Using Image-based AI for Insect Monitoring & Conservation"

João Loureiro, co-PI of the FLOWer Lab (Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet), attended the kick-off meeting of the COST Action "InsectAI - Using Image-based AI for Insect Monitoring & Conservation", which took place in Brussels yesterday.
Led by Tom August from the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, this COST action aims to contribute to the development and application of image-based tools assisted by artificial intelligence to support the monitoring and conservation of insects on a national and continental scale in order to understand and counteract the widespread decline of this group of organisms.
This action also includes the participation of Heliana Teixeira from CESAM - Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies at the University of Aveiro.
