Registrations open for workshop on cognitive neuroscience to be held in September at the University of Coimbra

Registration for the "Seeing and Acting Workshop: Functional and Neural Perspectives" runs until the 17th of September. Scientific posters can be submitted until the 1st of September.

The 1st edition of “SAW - Seeing and Acting Workshop: Functional and Neural Perspectives” will take place at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra (FPCEUC) on September 21-23, 2023. Registrations are open until the 17th of September, and submissions for poster presentations are due on the 1st of September.

The workshop aims to provide a forum on cognitive neuroscience, bringing together researchers to discuss their projects and develop new lines of research and collaborations. The scientific event is sponsored by the Era Chair Action “CogBooster”, a project funded with €2.5 million by the European Commission to establish FPCEUC as a research and teaching centre in the field of cognitive neuroscience.

Individual talks will be conducted by invited speakers who are renowned experts in the areas of perception and action: Laurel Buxbaum (Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute, USA), Erez Freud (York University, Canada), Leyla Isik (Johns Hopkins University, USA), Nancy Kanwisher (Massachusetts Institute of Technology – MIT, USA), Bradford Mahon (Carnegie Mellon University, USA), Alex Martin (National Institutes of Health – NIH, USA) and Schubotz (University of Münster, Germany).

In addition, there will be a poster session for students, post-docs, and young researchers to present their work. The authors of the 5 best posters presented will receive a 200€ prize.

The members of the scientific committee are Alfonso Caramazza, neuroscientist, professor at Harvard University and leader of the "Cogbooster" project; Jorge Almeida, professor and researcher at the University of Coimbra (UC) and coordinator of "Cogbooster" at the UC; Paul Downing, Bangor University (UK); Mel Goodale, Western University (Canada); Zoe Kourtzi, Cambridge University (UK); Angelika Lingnau, University of Regensburg (Germany); and Isabel Pavão Martins, University of Lisbon.
