Students, researchers and recent graduates in the humanities, arts, sciences and engineering fields can already submit their interest to the Data Challenge program, which will reward solutions to data-related challenges in the Portuguese industry. The program is organized by the Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto (UPTEC) and UC Business, and promoted by Santander Universidades.

The program will present management, valorization and data security challenges of six industry partners, in six different areas of activity: Altice (Telecom area), Bluepharma (pharmaceutical industry), Bosch (intelligent buildings), Prozis (eCommerce), Santander (banking/insurance) and Sogrape (supply chain). Participants - who may be from all Universities and Polytechnic Institutes in the country - will find support and inspiration to develop their business idea through data-centric approaches.

The Data Challenge will give the participant the opportunity to interact with partner companies, receive expert mentoring and participate in sessions on hot topics in the data area, led by academic experts. Among the program's activities, the following are included:

- Industry talks - sessions with the participation of companies and startups to share use cases in capturing and using data

- Master Classes - thematic sessions open to the public with experts from academic partners and related to the theme

- Mentoring & Peer Learning - group feedback from mentors

- Workshops - sessions dedicated to the development of the pitch structure and value proposition.

The winner of each challenge will receive:

- Incubation of the project presented in one of the partner incubation structures;

- Cash prize worth €2,500;

- Training in artificial intelligence topics, worth €10,000, by I2A2.

Participation in the program can take place in two formats: by responding to the challenges posed by business partners in the six areas and through Wild Cards - presentation of ideas associated with the six areas of business partners, even if they do not respond to any of the challenges.
