Title of the talk: Red Light Signals: How Inhibitory Neurons Regulate Traffic in the Brain

Description: Our brain is complex! It has excitatory and inhibitory neurons that work together to maintain balanced neuronal activity. How does this happen? Just as traffic lights are essential on the street to regulate traffic, what happens in the brain? The researcher will share with us this and other information about how our brains work!

Title of the talk: The influence of shot peening on the fatigue resistance of aeronautical components

Description: Almost all of us have certainly been on the safest form of transportation: the plane! When we board an aircraft and sit down to travel, do we ever think about the work that precedes this simple task? Flight safety is the main activity we focus on when we develop technologies to increase the fatigue resistance of aircraft components in a flight cycle (take-off, flight and landing). Shot peening is a treatment that relieves the residual stresses accumulated in this flight cycle and thus increases this safety!
