Theoretical background
The SDRS-5 is a self-report measure in short format consisting of 5 items that assess social desirability. Social desirability can be defined as the tendency of some subjects to respond to a question by communicating an answer they consider more socially acceptable than the true answer, to project a more favorable image of themselves, thus avoiding negative evaluations by others. Each item is rated on a 5-point scale, from Totally True to Totally False, after reversing the reversible items. Higher scores indicate higher levels of social desirability.
