United States and CERN sign joint declaration on FCC

On April 27, a declaration between the United States of America and CERN was signed at the White House, stating the US's intention to participate in the construction of the first stage of the Future Circular Collider, or FCC-ee, should CERN's Member States decide to go ahead with this construction.

This is a major political step towards making this monumental global research infrastructure a reality in the coming years. The Future Circular Collider, with the FCC-ee and FCC-hh stages, is expected to begin construction in the next decade and will contribute to expanding our knowledge of particle physics by the end of this century.

The content of the declaration now signed can be found at:

In the Physics Department we are participating in the preliminary studies for this future collider through the FCC group at LIP, coordinated by Prof. Ricardo Gonçalo.
