Calendar | 2023

Submission by 15 May.
Notification of acceptance by 31 May.

With the main aim of providing the junior researcher community with the opportunity to share, discuss and project their scientific research, we invite PhD students and other researchers to submit paper proposals within the four Interdisciplinary axes of CEIS20:

Axis 1 – Inequalities, borders and mobilities
The study of inequalities and their relation to territory, including: the different forms they take; their origins and their social and individual effects; the discursive processes, ideologies and representations that accompany them and/or the levels, areas and modes of intervention that can legitimately overcome them.

Axis 2 – The media and society in the post-digital era
Critical analysis of the impact, opportunities, risks and challenges of the ubiquity of digital technologies in different spheres of life and contemporary societies. Particular attention will be paid to the following radical transformations taking place in the media and their relations with political regimes and citizens: the production, transmission and consumption of information and knowledge; social and territorial organisation; and the construction of memory, identities and individual and collective representation.

Axis 3 – Democracy, present time and the memory of dictatorships
Characterisation of the current system of international relations, the situation of democratic regimes and other forms of political organisation, and scenarios for future developments. Contextualisation of the current reality in past times, analysing the material and immaterial legacy of the authoritarian and totalitarian experiences of the 20th century. Analysis of the processes of transition to democracy and the ways in which this memory and legacy have been managed and interpreted.

Axis 4 – Theory in humanities, arts, sciences and social technologies
Development of theoretical and epistemological studies, highlighting the importance of maintaining a high-level of research in the questioning, analysis and reflection inherent to these same studies, in order to open up new avenues and critical discussions on the importance of the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary in the framework of the humanities, social sciences and arts.
