The Centre for Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Processes (CEMMPRE) is opening a call for awarding 3 PhD research grants, in the area of Mechanical Engineering or similar scientific areas, under the FCT Research Grants Regulation (RBI) and the Statute of the Research Fellow (EBI).

The scholarships will be financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the Collaboration Protocol for Financing the Multiannual Plan for Research Scholarships for PhD Students, signed between FCT and the R&D Unit 285, CEMMPRE.

The candidates must select four of these themes and indicate the order of preference in the motivation letter. The motivation letter must be written in English and must clarify the reasons for the selection of each of the four themes, as well as how the candidate's professional experience can contribute to achieve the goals.

The topics proposed for the doctoral plans are the following:

1. Data Analysis and Prediction in High Performance Teams (464 kB)

2. Evaluation of unhealthy tissues by using microwaves (187 kB)

3. Linking Fatigue Crack Growth to Microstructure (164 kB)

4. Numerical and experimental evaluation of additive manufacturing as a tool for mimicking the biomechanical behavior of artereosclerothic vessels (165 kB)

5. Space environment effect in the properties of additive manufactured parts (172 kB)

6. Sustainable Lubricating Interfaces towards a more energy-efficient Maritime Transportation (182 kB)
