UC vice-rector takes office as advisor to the French National Centre for Scientific Research

CECH Integrated Researcher, FLUC Full Professor and UC Vice-Rector, Dr Delfim Leão, is the first Portuguese lecturer and researcher to be invited as a "foreign scientific personality" to join the Scientific Council of the CNRS Institute of Social and Human Sciences.

Appointed in December 2023, he took up his post on 16 January 2024 (his term of office runs until the end of 2028) and will have the role of advising and assisting the Director of the organisation and critically reflecting on the work carried out in the areas in question.

"The invitation to join the CNRS Scientific Council in the area of Humanities and Social Sciences as a foreign expert is a unique opportunity to contribute to the definition of scientific policies with a strong international projection. It also represents a stimulus to align the scientific activity of the University of Coimbra with international practices of reference."
