Apresentação

Objetivo temático: This project aims to enhance understanding and improve responses to transnational challenges in the Mediterranean region—specifically climate change, migration and forced displacement, and energy insecurity—through interdisciplinary, intersectoral, and international research collaboration.

Área Científica: International Relations and Diplomacy Studies

Síntese do Projeto: Transnational challenges—issues that cross national borders and defy unilateral solutions—continue to strain global, regional, and national systems. Despite two decades of effort, responses remain fragmented and ineffective, especially in the Mediterranean region. The TRACHMED project seeks to address this gap by fostering a collaborative research and staff exchange programme aimed at rethinking how these challenges are studied and tackled. Focusing on three key areas—climate change, migration and forced displacement, and energy insecurity—TRACHMED will bring together an international, interdisciplinary team to generate original empirical data, engage critically with existing conceptual frameworks, and build a sustained network of researchers and practitioners across the Mediterranean. The project aims to not only strengthen research capacity and knowledge sharing but also to provide updated, policy-relevant insights to EU institutions, regional stakeholders, and international decision-makers.
