Nuno Grácio, a PhD student with a scholarship from the Finger-PT project, spent July and August at the University of Milan-Biccoca on an ERASMUS programme, under the supervision of Professor Sergio Andó. During this period, he attended the 4th School of Heavy Mineral Analysis (30 June - 3 July), consolidating and learning new techniques for sample preparation and heavy-mineral identification. Over the remainder of his stay he was able to develop new technical skills in RAMAN microscopy and spectroscopy applied to heavy-minerals collected from samples of his team project, Finger-PT which is fundamental to his work as a researcher. This stay was also important for establishing new networks with this team at the University of Milan-Biccoca for future collaborations and stays.
