Associate Professor in Urban Analytics and Informatics Head of the Division of Urban Design and Planning Coordinator of the Urban Analytics Lab, Chalmers Next Labs
His research focus is on the conceptualisation and development of integrated urban models for urban planning research and practice, in the context of City Information Modelling (CIM) and Urban Digital Twins. He applies spatial analysis, network analysis, machine learning and visualisation methods to big geospatial data to advance research in the domains of sustainable mobility of people and goods, social inclusion, energy transition, and circular economy, adopting throughout an open science approach. He has published more than 40 indexed journal articles, has participated in more than 25 research projects, and contributed to numerous spatial analysis tools and codes. Besides his academic work, Jorge has worked developing geospatial analysis solutions and decision support systems for planning practice, 10 years of which as an independent consultant with projects in the UK, Portugal, France and the Netherlands. Jorge holds a PhD (2016) in Urbanism from the Faculty of Architecture, TU Delft, The Netherlands, and an MSc (2000) in Virtual Environments from the Bartlett, UCL, London.
