Mountain Lab

The Mountain.Lab (EcoLab Estrela) studies the diversity and dynamics of high-altitude and mountain ecosystems and their response and adaptation to global change. In these areas we are particularly interested on a) the diversity, biogeography and dynamics of plant and soil communities, with a strong focus on mutualisms like mycorrhizas; b) the links between climate, microclimate, plant growth, ecosystem dynamics and ecological processes, c) the regeneration and restoration of mountain ecosystems, especially after wildfires, and d) human pressures that threaten the integrity of high-altitude ecosystems and biodiversity.
