Innovation Analysis
After the Communication, the UC Business team will start the innovation analysis process. Researchers are a crucial partner in the entire assessment and evaluation process and, therefore, it is in the best interest that the team's relations with UC Business be one of proximity.
Innovation Transfer Potential
UC Business will develop internally, or with the help of consultants, and together with the inventors, an action plan for the protection and enhancement of technology. This action plan will be based on the assessment made using the determination:
- From the novelty of the invention, through research in patent databases and other public information;
- Potential products or services that can be created with the invented technology (technology analysis);
- The time and investment needed to bring the technology to market.
If the evaluation of the invention considers the results presented as promising, with potential for the development of a product/service with application in the market, the steps of protection (if applicable) and commercial valorization will be developed.
Protection of Innovation
From the analysis of the potential of innovation, it can be concluded that it should be protected through an Industrial Property right, such as a patent, utility model, trademark, etc.
The UC Business team will be in charge of streamlining the protection process, together with the inventors and, if necessary, using external consultants who are experts in the field.
After the protection is effective, UC Business will be responsible for managing the intellectual asset in its various phases, ensuring the maintenance of said protection.
