On 30 September, the Department of Architecture (DARQ) of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC) will host a tribute to Vítor Murtinho at the DARQ Chapel at 6:00 pm.
The ceremony will feature speeches by the Rector of the UC, Amílcar Falcão, the Director of FCTUC, Edmundo Monteiro, and the Director and Deputy Director of DARQ, Luís Miguel Correia and Teresa Pais, respectively. The event will then continue with the launch of Vítor Murtinho’s final book, A mais distinta sabedoria: a representação do lugar no Renascimento, presented by architect Domingos Tavares. The editors of the volume, Armando Rabaça and Bruno Gil, will also be in attendance.
Vítor Murtinho was Full Professor at DARQ and a researcher at the UC Centre for Social Studies. He also served as Director of DARQ (2004–2006), Deputy Director of FCTUC (2002–2011), and Vice-Rector of the University of Coimbra (2011–2019). He passed away in January this year.
