University of Coimbra hosts event as part of the World Health Summit
UC will hold several sessions on 13 and 14 October to foster closer interaction between researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and students.
The University of Coimbra (UC) will host a round table and several livestreamed sessions on 13 and 14 October, as part of the 2025 World Health Summit, to foster closer interaction between researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and students.
The round table, held in English, will take place on 13 October from 10:00 to 11:30 in the JJ Pedroso de Lima Auditorium, located on the ground floor of the Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research (iCBR) at UC’s campus 3 [Polo III]. The session will address the Summit’s global theme for 2025 — Taking Responsibility for Health in a Fragmented World.
The event will feature the remote participation of the President of the World Health Summit, Axel Radlach Pries, and the Portuguese Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins; as well as the Ambassador of Portugal, Luís Almeida Sampaio; the Director of the UC Faculty of Medicine (FMUC), Carlos Robalo Cordeiro; and the Chair of the Board of Directors of Coimbra Local Health Unit (ULS Coimbra), Alexandre Lourenço. The debate will be moderated by hospital administrator Carlos Santos (ULS Coimbra).
In addition, several sessions from the World Health Summit taking place in Berlin will be livestreamed on 13 and 14 October at iCBR.
These activities are promoted by the Coimbra Health consortium — composed of UC, through its Faculty of Medicine, and ULS Coimbra — in partnership with the World Health Summit Academic Alliance. They aim to showcase the main topics under discussion at the Summit and to strengthen dialogue between the academic community and the global health sector.
The World Health Summit is one of the leading international forums on global health, bringing together representatives from around the world to explore solutions to the most pressing health challenges.
The 2025 edition will be held in Berlin from 12 to 14 October. The full programme is available at www.worldhealthsummit.org.
