UC Sustainability Days 2025 challenge the community to think of a more sustainable future
The University of Coimbra is hosting the third edition of UC Sustainability Days from 16 to 25 September. New for this year's edition is 'Green Talks in the Garden', a series of public talks on strategic topics.
The University of Coimbra (UC) will host the third edition of Sustainability Days from 16 to 25 September. The programme comprises various activities designed to encourage discussion and reflection on major global sustainability issues across the entire community.
A major addition to the 2025 programme is 'Green Talks in the Garden': a series of public talks on urban biodiversity, efficient resource use, the circular economy, sustainability in research, and adaptation to climate change. These sessions will take place at the UC Botanical Garden from 16 to 24 September, with registration required by 12 September.
The 2025 Sustainability Days programme also includes a celebration of World Car Free Day on 22 September, aimed at encouraging reflection on excessive car use. To mark the day, UC is organising a historical bike ride through the most emblematic areas of Campus I, promoting healthier and more sustainable mobility.
On 25 September, National Sustainability Day, UC will host a meeting of the Observatory of Social Responsibility and Higher Education Institutions (ORSIES), focusing on how artificial intelligence can enhance sustainability in higher education.
Through these activities, UC 2025 Sustainability Days seek to promote awareness, debate, and action on sustainability issues within the academic community and society at large, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
