A group of business students from the Ackerman Center for Excellence in Sustainability (ACES) in the US visited the University of Coimbra (UC) to exchange best practices in the field of sustainable development.
The programme included a visit to the UNESCO Chair in Biodiversity and Conservation for Sustainable Development and the work done in this area by the Ecology Group of the Coimbra Academic Association and the UC Office for Sustainable Development.

The UC Pro-Rector for Planning and Sustainability, Patrícia Pereira da Silva, said that "when working towards sustainable development, cooperation and building partnerships are fundamental strategies". The visit was also "an opportunity to recognise and value the work that the University has been carrying out in the field of sustainable development", she stressed.

Patrícia Pereira da Silva believes that "sharing best practices on sustainable development within the sector and at the international level" will "contribute to the continuous improvement of our initiatives". With the group's face-to-face visit, "We're creating channels for potential collaboration on sustainable development, drawing on each institution's strengths to work together to improve the impact and reach of our work.," she stresses.

ACES is part of the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina. The visit took place on the 20th of May and involved more than 30 students and three faculty members.
