As a new academic year begins, the University of Coimbra supports inclusion and student well-being through the SASUC Integration Programme. The Student Integration and Guidance Division (DIA) supports students from the moment they arrive, assisting with financial and accommodation matters.

Support includes scholarships from the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) and the UC Social Support Fund, as well as free residence accommodation for DGES scholarship holders. The Part-Time Activity Programme (PASEP) allows students to gain professional experience and social benefits by working within UC.

DIA also provides support for students with specific educational needs and offers initiatives such as psycho-pedagogical support, peer support, and UC Skills webinars covering time management, study methods, and strategies for coping with stress and anxiety.

Alexandra Lopes, head of DIA, emphasises the importance of financial management, attending classes, and balancing studies with a social life. Integration at UC goes beyond lectures, encompassing human, social, and emotional support throughout students’ academic journey.
