The University of Coimbra (UC) has achieved the top rating - "5 stars" - in eight categories of the QS Stars rating, a rating system for higher education institutions by Quacquarelli Symonds - QS. This year, UC achieved its highest-ever rating of 875 out of 1000, equivalent to "Excellent".

UC received 5 stars in the following categories: Teaching, Employability, Internationalisation, Research, Facilities, Arts and Culture, Innovation and Inclusiveness. This is the fourth time UC has been assessed by QS Stars since 2013, with the overall score continuing to improve.

QS Stars assesses institutions across all key areas of activity, from teaching and research to internationalisation, innovation, employability, culture and infrastructure. Based on this assessment, QS Stars publishes an annual list of the world's best universities.

The evaluation process began in the last quarter of 2023 and was completed in May 2024. It involved collecting, organising and submitting dozens of pieces of evidence and data, which were meticulously analysed and validated by QS.
