The University of Coimbra (UC) will present the five winning projects of the fifth edition of Support for the Promotion of Scientific Culture, an initiative spearheaded by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (IIIUC), at a ceremony to be held on 12 September at 3 p.m. at UC Exploratório – Centro Ciência Viva. The event is open to the entire community.

The programme provides support for interdisciplinary and culturally engaged science communication activities, aimed at sharing knowledge produced at UC with a wider, more diverse audience. This year’s edition will support five projects that foster dialogue between science and culture, reaching audiences beyond strictly academic or scientific contexts. Each selected project will receive €3,000 in funding.

For each edition, proposals must be original and interdisciplinary, led by teams of researchers from at least two different University of Coimbra (UC) Research and Development (R&D) units from different scientific fields. The teams must also include PhD students from the University of Coimbra, and align with the principles set out in the UC Plan for Equality, Equity and Diversity 2019–2024, particularly concerning gender equality and diversity.

The public award ceremony will feature remarks by João Ramalho-Santos, UC Vice-Rector for Research and Director of IIIUC.
