From 16 to 24 September, the University of Coimbra (UC) Botanical Garden will serve as a space for reflection and dialogue on the major global sustainability challenges. The highlight of the 3rd edition of Sustainability Days at UC is Green Talks in the Garden. Registration to participate in this new event must be completed by 12 September here.

Green Talks in the Garden is a series of open conversations with the public on strategic topics such as urban biodiversity, efficient resource use, circular economy, sustainability in research, and climate change adaptation. On 16 September, in the morning, discussions will focus on “Urban Biodiversity: How Can the City Be a Refuge for Wildlife?” and “The Role of Connecting with Nature in the Sustainable Transition”. The following day, 17 September, speakers will explore the importance of “Water in Times of Drought: Every Drop Counts” and “The Hidden Cost of Energy: Choices with Global Impact”.

Next, on 18 September, sessions will address “Sustainable Laboratories: How to Reduce Research Impact?” and “From Waste to Resource: The Future of the Circular Economy”. Green Talks in the Garden concludes on 24 September with the topics “Sustainability in Progress: Today’s Challenges, Tomorrow’s Achievements”, “Living in a Changed Climate: Adaptation, Resilience, and Community”, and “Technology with a Green Heart: Innovation Serving the Planet”.

Sustainability Days at UC aim to raise awareness, foster debate, and encourage action on sustainability issues within the academic community, in Coimbra, and in society at large, in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals. Check the full programme here.
