Coimbra University Press integrates the recently launched Diamond Discovery Hub
The Open Access platform now includes UC scientific journals, with Coimbra University Press listed as a trusted data source.
The Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH) is one of the services of the European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH). It was presented at the OCtober 2025 conference of the project CRAFT‑AO (Creating a Robust Accessible Federated Technology for Open Access).
The Diamond Discovery Hub is a registry of scholar-led Open Access journals that meet six operational criteria, and it already lists Coimbra University Press as a trusted data source and contributor to the registry of scientific journals published by the University of Coimbra.
As a database of Diamond journals that meet common quality and operational standards, the DDH aims to provide these journals with the visibility and recognition they deserve, making them easier for authors, libraries, and research institutions to discover. In addition, it seeks to strengthen their credibility and support the development of a fairer and more sustainable academic publishing ecosystem.
By bringing together journals that embody the principles of openness, equity and community governance, the DDH showcases the collective value of community-driven open access. At its launch, the DDH listed over 2,600 Diamond journals. This makes it easier for stakeholders to find and assess publications.
The selection of diamond journals on the DDH is based on the following Diamond Criteria:
- Persistent identification
- Scholarly journal
- Open Access with open licences
- No fees
- Open to all authors
- Community-owned
The geographic scope includes 44 countries of the European Research Area (ERA), ERAC observers, and other countries associated with Horizon Europe. More information on the countries covered can be found here.
Journals published by the University of Coimbra through Coimbra University Press are already on the DDH.
