The Coimbra Academic Association/University of Coimbra team won the gold medal in the National University Rugby Sevens Championship held at the University Stadium on 3-4 June.
The event brought together several university teams nationwide for two days of intense competition. The AAC/UC team excelled, winning every match they played.
Coach Moisés Duque said: "The team did very well during the tournament, we won every game and made the most of the great group we have. There is no doubt that our strength was our team spirit. This is an Olympic sport and Coimbra has what it takes to be a national powerhouse. I hope this success will encourage the growth of rugby sevens in the region".
