Camila Rebelo, a student-athlete at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra was crowned European champion in the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:08.95 minutes, setting a new national record by beating her previous record of 2:09.54. The European Aquatics Championships are being held in Belgrade, Serbia.
At the age of 21, Camila achieved the best-ever result by a Portuguese swimmer at a continental championship and will be competing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
