The open-access article "Interculturality in the Development of Technology-Mediated Courses for Massive Health Education: A Systematic Review" has been published today, co-authored by Fátima Alves from the Societies and Environmental Sustainability Research Group of the Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet, Terra Associate Laboratory, University of Coimbra, and its extension at the Open University of Portugal.
This study, developed within the framework of the PhD in Intercultural Relations at the Open University of Portugal, examines the role of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in health education, highlighting how these virtual learning environments promote interculturality and social and health well-being across diverse contexts. The systematic review analysed 15 studies published between 2016 and 2023, offering insights into the key processes behind the development of MOOCs aimed at healthcare professionals and the general public. By enabling cultural diversity to be addressed in work settings, MOOCs have revolutionised distance health education, providing new pathways for learning, training, and knowledge dissemination.
