Promoting Intercultural Dialogue in Health Care: Reflections on the Process of Systematic Review of Strategies to Address Health Challenges Related to Climate Change
On May 6, the PhD course in Intercultural Relations at Universidade Aberta organised a Research Seminar. This seminar is a space for sharing knowledge, practices, and ongoing research, promoting scientific debate, and collectively constructing knowledge.
Nidia Ponte, a Phd student and researcher in this group, presented a paper resulting from her doctorate in Intercultural Relations, supervised by Fátima Alves and Diogo Guedes Vidal:
‘Promoting Intercultural Dialogue in Health Care: Reflections on the Process of Systematic Review of Strategies to Address Health Challenges Related to Climate Change.’
In this speech, Nidia Ponte proposes a critical reflection on intercultural strategies in healthcare contexts, analysing how the response to climate change requires approaches sensitive to cultural diversity and epistemic justice. Her paper starts from the realisation of a critical gap in the literature: How can intercultural communication and health response be articulated in the face of climate crises? Through a critical and reflexive approach, the study questions the role of systematic reviews in constructing scientific knowledge and mediating care practices in multicultural contexts.
