Climate Change and Health: The Role of Doctors in Strengthening Resilience and Responses to Just Ecological Transitions in Portugal

At the Symposium on Sustainable Development in Portuguese-Speaking Countries, Nidia Ponte, a doctoral student in Intercultural Relations at the Open University of Portugal, presented her research ‘Climate Change and Health: The Role of Doctors in Strengthening Resilience and Responses to Just Ecological Transitions in Portugal’. This study was carried out in collaboration with her supervisors, Fátima Alves and Diogo Guedes Vidal, from the Societies and Environmental Sustainability Research Group at the Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet, TERRA Associated Laboratory at the University of Coimbra and its Extension at the Open University of Portugal.

This qualitative research was carried out as part of her master's degree in Intercultural Relations, supervised by Fátima Alves, and aimed to examine the perspectives of Portuguese doctors on health policies related to climate change and the preparation of the National Health Service to face these challenges.
