Ciência 2025: E-Poster – Participatory Methodology for Intercultural Dialogue
The E-poster entitled "Participatory Methodology for Intercultural Dialogue in Healthcare in the Context of Climate Change", authored by Nídia Ponte, Fátima Alves, and Diogo Guedes Vidal, was accepted and presented at Ciência 2025 – the Annual Science Meeting, held from 9 to 11 July, in hybrid format, at the Carcavelos Campus of NOVA University Lisbon.
This work is grounded in the recognition that climate change exacerbates health inequalities, disproportionately affecting vulnerable social groups. In response to this challenge, the study proposes a participatory methodological approach aimed at developing strategies for intercultural dialogue between primary healthcare professionals and patients from diverse sociocultural backgrounds.
Structured by a mixed-methods approach, the study aims to promote community resilience and reinforce cognitive justice. The authors argue that only through culturally sensitive methodologies is it possible to support more integrative public policies: and health systems that are better equipped to address the impacts of climate change.
