Building Global Citizenships and Governance for SDGs: integrating contributions of regional and local contexts
On 26 May, Ana Mendonça took part in the 5th World Symposium on Sustainability Science and Research, held in Lisbon. During this international event, which brought together researchers from all over the world, the researcher from this group presented a paper entitled ‘Building Global Citizenships and Governance for SDGs: Integrating Contributions of Regional and Local Contexts’, co-authored with Fátima Alves.
The symposium, focused on the exchange of innovative practices in the field of sustainability and global citizenship, addressed the importance of integrating regional and local dimensions in building sustainable solutions. The presentation highlighted the relevance of multi-level governance and the promotion of active and responsible citizenship as essential elements for realising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the UN's 2030 Agenda.
The event underlined the need for a collective commitment between universities, research centres, public and private entities, NGOs and civil society to tackle global challenges, ensuring that no one is left behind and that sustainability actions are effective and integrated into local communities.
