Nídia Ponte, researcher and PhD candidate in Intercultural Relations from the Societies and Environmental Sustainability Research Group of the Centre for Functional Ecology – Science for People & the Planet, part of the Terra Associated Laboratory at the University of Coimbra and its Extension at the Open University of Portugal, participated in the Mid-Term Conference of the European Sociological Association – Research Network 16, under the theme "Health in the Anthropocene: Sociological Analysis, Reflections, and Implications", held on June 11–12 at the University of Évora.

The PhD candidate presented part of her doctoral research — funded by a FCT doctoral grant — entitled:

"Bridging Cultures in Healthcare: A Systematic Review of Intercultural Dialogue Strategies for Addressing Climate-Related Health Challenges", supervised by Fátima Alves and Diogo Guedes Vidal.

Through a systematic review of 59 studies, the work explored how intercultural dialogue strategies between healthcare professionals and patients from diverse sociocultural backgrounds can be developed and adapted to address the health impacts of climate change.

The results highlight the importance of cultural competence training, the centrality of patient-centered dialogue, and the value of community-based approaches in promoting health resilience.
