This book is the result of the Guaiamum Project - Bioecology and Ethno-Knowledge for Conservation, which aims to contribute to the protection of the Guaiamum and the sustainability of artisanal fishing for this species. This book emphasises the importance of dialogue between traditional and academic knowledge, mobilising the participation of artisanal fishermen throughout the process, thus giving these local actors a voice in the definition of conservation and protection policies.
