Society-Nature Relations: What Possible Futures?
The idea of progress, associated with modernity, is reflected in humanity’s domination over Nature. This perspective, rooted in a logic of Human Exceptionalism, assumes that humans are fundamentally different from and superior to all other species and that human society’s history is one of endless progress.
Drawing from Fátima Alves’ experience with socio-ecological processes, this podcast explores how Society-Nature relations and tensions have evolved and what possible futures can be envisioned to transform this relationship.
