Abstract: Although existing and growing, the professional development of doctoral supervisors is still scarce and poorly structured in the national context, and there are no spaces for sharing experiences where supervisors develop and/or deepen their knowledge in the field of doctoral pedagogy. Taking into account the relevance of the quality of supervision for the academic success of doctoral students, this seminar aims to initiate a cycle of debates on doctoral pedagogy and doctoral supervision, with the expectation that these debates will create conditions for sharing experiences and knowledge among supervisors.

This seminar will present supervisory approaches and practices that enhance student learning, as well as the challenges for doctoral supervision in the 21st century and in the pandemic phase we live in. Participants will be invited to discuss their practices and conceptions of supervision.

Participants are invited to read the following blog: Reviewing the literature on the professional development of doctoral supervisors – A community blog, on doctoral supervision relationships and pedagogies (wordpress.com)

Topics:

  • Doctoral Pedagogy
