IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Dear colleagues,
Due to the low number of abstracts submitted to the International Symposium on Arbutus unedo (Strawberry Tree) and Related Species: from Biology to Biotechnology, the organisers and the ISHS regret to inform that they have decided to cancel the event.
We appreciate your interest in the symposium that we have proposed to hold, but the number of abstracts submitted does not justify the publication of a volume of Acta Horticulturae, without which the symposium cannot be held within the scope of ISHS.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope that you will be able to submit your work to other ISHS conferences or other events.
Best regards,
Jorge Canhoto, João Martins

Welcoming message
We cordially invite you to participate in the International Symposium on Arbutus unedo (Strawberry Tree) and Related Species: from Biology to Biotechnology, to be held on 28-30 October 2024 in Coimbra, Portugal. This symposium is organized by the University of Coimbra under the aegis of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS).
The Arbutus unedo and related species in the Ericaceae family are of significant importance due to their unique biology and biotechnology applications. These species play an essential role in the ecosystem and have been widely used for medicinal, ornamental, and edible purposes.
This symposium will provide a platform for scientists to come together and exchange ideas and knowledge on the latest research in the field of Arbutus unedo and related species. The event will feature keynote speakers, oral and poster presentations, and networking opportunities to foster collaborations and advance our understanding in this field. In addition, there will be social events and a field trip to provide attendees with an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the region and connect with colleagues in a relaxed setting.
Come and join us in Coimbra, a city rich in history and culture, as we delve into the fascinating world of the Arbutus unedo and related species. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this exciting scientific journey with you.
The Symposium Organizing Committee.
