UC promotes “Dialogues and Research on Culture, Education and Digital Society”

Initiative promotes discussions on how digital technologies configure the building of knowledge

The University of Coimbra (UC) promotes, on September 24th, the event "Dialogues and Research: Culture, Education and Digital Society", an initiative that intends to discuss the way digital technologies can promote knowledge. The event takes place from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm in the Auditorium of the Rectory; those interested in participating or watching can register online (click here). The presence in the auditorium is limited to 90 participants. The other interested people will be able to attend the event online.

The general theme of the event concerns "digital technologies in cultural, educational and societal contexts in new lines of research". The opening session will count on the interventions of the Scientific Coordinator of CEIS20, José Oliveira Martins; the Director of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, António Gomes Ferreira; the Director of the Faculty of Arts, Rui Gama; and the Vice-Rector and Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research, Cláudia Cavadas.

The conferences and round tables will be attended by names such as Daniel Innerarity, Marjo Kyllonen, Henrique Madeira, Manuel Portela and Robert O'Dowd. The topics range from questions about the "society of ignorance", to the discussion of "old and new" developments in technology, education and culture, skills and abilities for the education of the future, learning experiences through virtual exchange, media literacy in the digital society, plurilingualism in Higher Education and the constructivist approach of the web for Higher Education. The Dialogues and Research on Culture, Education and Digital Society initiative is organized by the Rectorate of the UC, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (IIIUC) and the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the 20th Century (CEIS 20).
