On July 11, the Vice-Rector for Open Science of the UC, Delfim Leão, participates in the XVI MEDES Day - "Open scientific knowledge: visible, responsible, plural and multilingual". The Spanish event, organized by Fundación Lilly, is held within the Summer Courses of the Complutense University in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and aims to address the innovative context in which science is produced, consumed and shared openly in the biomedical field.

The journey will be divided into three conversations dedicated to analysing the challenges and transformations that this context poses to researchers and librarians. Participation is free and registration is available at this link. The event is in person but will offer live streaming (the virtual participation is also subject to registration).

The session in which the UC Vice-Rector for Open Science will participate discusses "The discoverability or the art of making the multilingual scientific content visible". The debate will be moderated by Elea Giménez, director of the Centre for Human and Social Sciences of CSIC (Spanish National Research Council). The other participants in the debate will be Iria da Cunha (Universidad Nacional de Educacional a Distancia, UNED, Spain) and Marting Krallinger (Centro Nacional de Supercomputación BSC-CNS, Spain).

The two other debate sessions of the journey will explore the themes of open data in biomedical research and citizen science as an opportunity for biomedical research. Learn more in the full program.
