The results of the 2021 edition of the programme "Promotion of Scientific Culture", carried out by the Vice-Rectories for Research and 3rd Cycle (Vice-Rector Cláudia Cavadas) and for Culture and Open Science (Vice-Rector Delfim Leão), were made available on this Thursday, 29th. The initiative aims to financially support projects aimed at disseminating scientific knowledge produced at UC; 10 proposals were selected, with funding of 750€ each.

The projects were chosen based on the requirements of promoting scientific culture; dissemination of knowledge produced at UC; originality; involvement of doctoral students and/or early-career doctorate researchers; and targeting different audiences, in addition to complying with the guidelines of the Directorate-General for Health for its implementation. As a requirement, the support programme invited the participation of interdisciplinary and original activities promoted by teams of researchers belonging to at least two Research and Development Units (R&D) of the UC Group from distinct scientific areas.

The edition received applications from 17 of the 38 research units of UC, and the proposals that were contemplated will be coordinated from eight units: Centre for Chemistry (CQ), Centre for Social Studies (CES), Institute of Systems and Robotics (ISR), Coimbra Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Translational Research (CIBIT), Centre for Research in Neuropsychology and Cognitive-Behavioural Intervention (CINEICC), Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC), Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of the 20th Century (CEIS 20) and Centre for Research in Anthropology and Health (CIAS). The complete list of activities, with the respective coordinators, is available at this link.

In the two years of the initiative - 2020 and the current edition, 2021 -, a total of 20 activities were funded, with an amount of 14 800 euros of funding.
