A series of online sessions to discuss the importance of the study of the brain and its fundamental role in a healthy life, promoted within the scope of the International Brain Week 2021, begins this Wednesday, 10th. The activities are an initiative of the Center for Neurosciences and Cell Biology (CNC) and the Institute of Clinical and Biomedical Research of Coimbra (iCBR), members of the CIBB (Centre for Innovative Biomedicine and Biotechnology) at UC.

This Wednesday, 10th, and on the 17th, 24th and 31st of March, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, the sessions entitled "Brain Gain: Discovering Neurosciences" will take place. These sessions are aimed at higher education students with the intention of showing the value of the Neurosciences field in Portugal and inspiring students to pursue careers in the field. Professionals from various institutions will be brought together, addressing a theme each day: Neuroscience and Technology, Brain Pathologies and Therapies, Study Models and Bioethics, and Brain Professions. Registrations to participate can be made on this form. The activity is financed by the Portuguese Society of Neurosciences (SPN) and, at the end of each session, a live quiz will be held and will provide a SPN membership for one year to the winner.

Between March 15th and 26th, CIBB's researchers will present the sessions "Neuroscientists go to Schools", aimed at groups (schools, patient associations, among others) with the aim of sharing research in different areas with the wider public.

In addition to the two sets of sessions, the World Sleep Day - March 19 - and World Bipolar Day - March 30 - will also be celebrated, with the sharing of health literacy content. All activities and initiatives will be published on the CNC and iCBR social networks.
