From the 15th to the 17th of June, the Association of University Publishers of Latin America and the Caribbean (EULAC), in partnership with the Union of University Publishers of Spain (UNE), organize the event “Open Science: reflections from the university and academic edition”. The event will feature experts from different Ibero-American countries, including the Vice-Rector for Culture and Open Science at UC, Delfim Leão, who will moderate the June 17 panel on Open Science and Academic Edition.

The organizing institutions highlight, in the event's program, the importance of integrating the discussion on open science from the perspective of academic publishers, as the different pillars of the new scientific paradigm “affect in different ways the projects of publishers of institutions of higher education, in particular on topics related to open access communication”.

The official presentation of the event will be made by the presidents of the associations, Ana Isabel González (UNE) and Sayri Karp (EULAC), on June 15th. On the same day, Alea López de San Román, Head of Policy of the General Direction for Research and Innovation of the European Commission, presents the conference “La Politica de Ciencia Abierta de la Unión Europea” (The open science politics of European Union).

On June 16, the panel “Ciencia abierta y derecho de autor” (Open Science and authors copyright) will take place, with the moderation of Paula Gil, legal advisor for intellectual property, habeas data and international contracting at the University of Rosario, in Colombia. Speakers at the panel will be Mónica Boreto (WIPO, Argentina), José Luis Caballero Leal (Mexico) and Fernando Carbajo Cascón (University of Salamanca, Spain).

The panel moderated by Vice-Rector Delfim Leão, "Ciencia abierta y edición académica" (Open Science and Academic Edition), on June 17, will feature three directors of academic publishing houses: Remedios Pérez García (Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain), Édgar García Valencia (Universidad Veracruzana, Mexico) and Flávia Goulart Rosa (Federal University of Bahia, Brazil). The specialist in science communication at the Open University of Catalunya, Candela Ollé Castellà, completes the session's guests.
