Discovery and collaboration in Open Science are the theme of international conference call for papers

The potential, challenges and possibilities arising from efforts towards Open Science, with a special focus on the Social Sciences and Humanities, are the focus of the final conference of the TRIPLE project, which will be held in Bonn, Germany, between 1 and 3 February 2023. The conference has an open Call For Papers until 30 November, for abstracts with up to 250 words for 20-minute presentations and 90-minute workshops. Proposals should be submitted through this link. The three-year-long project was established in 2019, is funded by the European Commission through the Horizon 2020 programme, and is integrated by UC.

The questions to be explored in the proposals should focus on the following topics:

• Innovation and innovative services in the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) - Depending on the discipline and theoretical approach, what is considered "innovative" may differ. The TRIPLE project wants to explore what innovation means in Open Science and SSH and to what end it can be explored.
• Multilingualism in SSH - It aims to explore the role of multilingualism in discovery and collaboration. Topics to be addressed here could be vocabularies, multilingualism across disciplines, etc.
• (Crowd)Funding in Open Science - How to get funding for a research project is always a crucial question. The intention here is to explore the intertwinement of funding opportunities, social impact and the possibilities offered by seemingly new forms of funding such as crowdfunding.
• Sustainability, Research Infrastructures and Open Science - The maintenance of Open Science research infrastructures, platforms and services needs sustainable solutions that explore new models of governance and funding consistent with the Open Science vision. Possible papers could investigate the challenges and possibilities of sustainable governance in Open Science, discuss the very idea of sustainability of data, resources and services.
• Collaboration - The importance of international and interdisciplinary collaboration for science is constantly growing. What can collaboration between researchers, various stakeholders, services, and infrastructures look like, and how can collaboration be enabled and facilitated? Can the field of SSH (e.g. technologically, conceptually) provide solutions and ideas for formal and natural sciences and vice versa?
• Metadata and data quality - Aligned vocabularies, interoperability of various data types and linked open data are key topics in today's discussion on metadata and data quality. How are the Social Sciences and Humanities impacted by these discussions? How do they benefit and evolve? How do these topics connect SSH to scientific disciplines outside the field?
• Any other topics related and of importance for Collaboration and Discovery in Open Science.
