This Thursday, March 31st, the SciELO Books collection celebrates its 10 years of operation, in the development of infrastructures for the publication of academic books in digital format, according to the state of the art. The Vice-Rector for Culture and Open Science at the UC, Delfim Leão, is one of the guests at the event and participates in the session that will discuss the theme "Lessons of bibliodiversity and Open Access in publishing digital academic books".

The event to commemorate the collection's 10 years is intended as a forum to recognise the advances and challenges regarding the future of digital books in the light of Open Access and Open Science. Above all, the meeting aims to be a space for discussion on the theme of the digital book. It will take place online, via Zoom, and free registrations can be made at this link.

Also as part of the celebrations, SciELO Books has published an interview, last Tuesday (29), with Vice-Rector Delfim Leão, who spoke on the motivations of the UC Press in publishing all its books in Open Access, on the development of the Pombaline library and on the relationship between cultural development and Open Science. Check out the full interview at this link.

The SciELO Books collection comprises 1200 titles - 62% of them in open access -, operating with 20 active publishers and more than 13 thousand chapters in open access. In these ten years of existence of the collection, the OA books have served an annual average of more than 1 million downloads. SciELO Books is part of the SciELO Program, led by the São Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP), with support from CAPES (Commission for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) and CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) from Brazil. It also has the support of the Brazilian Association of University Publishers (ABEU) and the Association of University Publishers of Latin America and the Caribbean (EULAC). It is also a member of DOAB (Directory of Open Access Books).
