On Researchers' Night 2021, the University of Turku, Finland, will host the first Science Battle between researchers. The initiative is part of the EC2U project, a European consortium of which the University of Coimbra is a member.

The first EC2U Science Battle will take place online on the 24th of September, starting at 14:00 (GMT) with the participation of researchers from the Universities of Pavia (Italy), Poitiers (France) and Turku (Finland).

According to the organisation, "a Science Battle is a game-like event that aims to promote science and research while showing the public how researchers concretely tackle a new research question". The idea was put into practice by the University of Turku in 2016 and has now expanded into a battle between members of the European Campus of City-Universities.

All information about the event may be found at https://ec2u.eu/ec2u-science-battle/

The 2022 edition is already being prepared and will involve researchers from the other universities in the consortium - Coimbra, Portugal; Iasi, Romania; Jena, Germany and Salamanca, Spain. The 2023 edition is expected to be the final meeting between the winners of the first rounds.
