Women researchers make themselves heard on the streets of the city

Soapbox Science Coimbra is an international initiative that is promoted, at the UC, by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research. After an online edition, it will be held in person for the first time in 2022. The main goal is to "create a space for researchers to talk about science with the public in the streets of Coimbra".

In total, 12 UC researchers, students and lecturers climbed on top of a wooden box and, without a microphone, shared the work they do. From artificial intelligence to the impact of geomagnetic storms on transport and energy networks, from female migration to neurosciences, the aim of the initiative was to publicise the science done by women at the University and transmit it, in a simple way, to society.
