The European Researchers' Night (NEI) Coimbra is once again coming to Figueira da Foz.
The focus for 2024 is centred on the 130th anniversary of the Santos Rocha Municipal Museum, filling this visit period with activities in areas as diverse as museology, conservation, restoration, research in the humanities and social sciences, archaeology, anthropology, among others, in an attempt to make the public aware of what lies behind the shop window, thus touring a Scientific Roadmap of the Municipal Museum.
The Municipal Museum's employees were challenged to reveal some of the work they do in their offices, laboratories and workshops, and researchers and external collaborators who have helped in some way, such as restoring museum objects or carrying out archaeological work, were also invited to take part.
Finally, the participation of members of the Núcleo Museológico do Mar e do Sal (Sea and Salt Museum Centre) was also included, with the exploitation of some elements of the museum collection.
Figueira da Foz, through the municipality, is joining NEI 2024 in this way, integrating its activities with the general programme of the national consortium organising the initiative, in particular the University of Coimbra.
