MarieCurie@UC

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) support researchers in all scientific fields and any nationality.

At the University of Coimbra, we believe that by receiving high-quality postdoctoral researchers through MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships and by training UC R&D Units for successful applications, we will strengthen research and development capacity at UC.

If you are a postdoctoral researcher and are interested in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) at the University of Coimbra, please contact directly the Research Units at UC and the respective contact points open to hosting proposals. Find an expert in the area you want to develop your research fellowship to be your supervisor and begin building the application together.

Main objectives of these Fellowships:

  • Foster excellence through implementation of research project;
  • Enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD (training on transferable skills and career development);
  • Focus on i3 (international, inter-sectoral, interdisciplinary) mobility;
  • Bridges and exposure to the non-academic sector.

Are you planning to apply to a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF)?

An MSCA PF can be a great boost to your career if you are looking for a prestigious Fellowship that allows you to pursue your own independent research.

This year, a budget of 417 million euros is expected to be awarded in the MSCA-2024-PF call. To be eligible, applicants must be in possession of a PhD at the call deadline and have up to 8 years research experience after PhD. This period includes the following exceptions: career breaks, work outside research and research outside Europe for reintegrating researchers. Additionally, the mobility rule requires that you should be based in EU member States or Associated Countries and have not resided in Portugal for more than 12 months in the 36 months prior to the call’s deadline in order to be eligible.

You may apply to an European Fellowship (12 - 24 months) or to a Global Fellowship (24 - 36 months, where 12 - 24 is the outgoing phase of the Fellowship + 12 months return phase in Europe), with the chance to pursue inter-sectorial secondments worldwide (up to 1/3 of the fellowship duration). Furthermore, you can opt to include an additional placement of up to 6 months in a non-academic European organization at the end of the Fellowship.
